Irresistible Foods to Build Grillo’s Pickles Plant in Taylorsville, Indiana
Sometimes the best neighbors are the ones you know: Irresistible Foods Group, which plans to build a $175 million King’s Hawaiian bakery in Taylorsville, Ind., has confirmed it will build a new $54 million processing plant for its Grillo’s Pickles business adjacent to the King’s Hawaiian facility.
Grillo’s recently broke ground on the 155,000-sq.-ft. processing facility on the site, which Irresistible Foods purchased with the intent of building it out in phases, explained Joe Leonardo, vice president of Strategic Operations for Irresistible Foods Group (IFG) and chief operating officer of King's Hawaiian. The new pickle processing plant is just slightly larger than its forthcoming, 300,000-sq.-ft. King’s Hawaiian neighbor on the site, and it will employ as many as 150 workers when in operation.
State and local governments have supported both projects on the site with infrastructure improvements, tax incentives and credits to spur development.
Irresistible Foods was formed in 2021, the same year that the company acquired Grillo’s Pickles. It also is the parent company to Killer Brownie Co. and other brands.
Editor’s Note: The $175 million price tag and square-footage for the King’s Hawaiian facility cited in this Grillo’s announcement does not match original information reported on by Food Processing in December 2023 when the facility was first announced, nor the June 2024 announcement of Irresistible Foods wanting to invest in an expansion before the first facility was even built.
