Italian/Family-Owned Farmina Pet Foods Opens First U.S. Plant in North Carolina
Farmina Pet Foods, a family-owned processor based in Italy, yesterday (June 11) opened its first U.S.-based manufacturing facility, in Reidsville, N.C.
The 150,000-sq.-ft. manufacturing facility represents a $115 million investment and is expected to create 200 new jobs over the next five years, with 75 positions already filled.
While new to U.S. manufacturing, Farmina has supplied North American pet owners for more than a decade, delivering premium pet foods made with European ingredients and following European nutritional standards, many of which surpass those of the U.S.
Farmina has manufacturing facilities in Italy, Serbia and Brazil.
The facility apparently got financial or other assistance from North Carolina Dept. of Commerce, Rockingham County, the City of Reidsville, Duke Energy, Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina and the state’s Job Development Investment Grant.
