Hilton Foods Canada to Invest $192 Million on New Facility in Ontario

The new, 230,000-sq.ft. plant and distribution center will produce beef, lamb, pork and seafood, and is the first North American facility for the UK-based company.

UK-based Hilton Foods’ Canadian business, Hilton Foods Canada, will build its first North American food-processing and distribution facility in Brantford, Ont., investing $192 million in the project, according to a release from the provincial government.

The new, 230,000-sq.-ft. facility will create 150 new jobs and appears to possibly be the follow-through on Hilton Foods Canada’s 2023 announcement of a partnership with Walmart Canada to supply those stores with a variety of protein products, starting with beef, lamb, pork and seafood.

The plant is Hilton Foods’ first in North America — the company currently operates in eight European countries plus Australia and New Zealand. Although the most recent release did not offer an anticipated open date for the Brantford facility, if it indeed is the same project referenced some 18 months ago in the Walmart partnership, then the facility could open in 2026 or thereabouts.
