Currently operating under soft-opening production conditions, the company’s fifth processing facility will celebrate a grand opening in September.

Protein processor Standard Meat Co. (SMC) announced the upcoming opening of its fifth production facility near the company’s headquarters in the iconic Fort Worth Stockyards — in conjunction with the celebration of 90 years in the business.

The fourth-generation, family-owned company was founded in 1935 and has grown to supply foodservice and retail customers globally. The new plant will be the company’s most technologically advanced and joins plants in Dallas, Irving, Saginaw and Ponder, Texas, in SMC’s operations stable. The Stockyards facility, as the company is calling it, will give SMC the opportunity to scale sous vide and searing technologies while still retaining flexibility to meet new customer needs.

Co-presidents Ben Rosenthal and Ashli Rosenthal Blumenfeld took over as fourth-generation leaders in 2019 and have overseen the expansion of the company from two facilities to the current five, and the rollout of next-generation capabilities, the company noted. SMC has also launched a new Culture & Strategy Department that will reinforce the company purpose statement throughout the organization and its 1,100 employees.

SMC expects to cut the ribbon on the Stockyards facility at a grand opening ceremony on Sept. 17, 2025 — the facility is currently operating under soft-opening production conditions.
