Westrock Coffee Opens Single-Serve Coffee Pods Facility in Conway, Arkansas
Private-label coffee and tea manufacturer Westrock Coffee Co. is growing again in Conway, Ark., announcing the opening of its second new processing facility in the last 13 months.
The newest facility, known as the “Clark” facility, is a 525,000-sq.-ft. plant that will focus on production of single-serve coffee products, at least to start. It could expand to additional product formats in the future, according to a release from the company sent to Food Processing. Fulfillment and distribution operations will take up the majority of the floorspace in the Clark facility, but 130,000 sq. ft. will house the manufacturing operations.
The Clark facility has been designed with state-of-the-art technology capable of producing millions of single-serve cups on a daily basis, which Westrock hopes to serve as the coffee pods market is projected to more than double in size by 2034, with private-label manufacturing a piece of the puzzle.
This grand opening is another step for Westrock’s growth plan, coming just over a year after the company opened a 570,000-sq.-ft. ready-to-drink coffee products plant in Conway. With these two facilities, plus the company’s original production facility in North Little Rock and its headquarters in Little Rock, Westrock Coffee has been turning the coffee category’s eyes toward central Arkansas as a production hub. Westrock says that once both new facilities are fully staffed, they are expected to employ 900 people combined.
