Perdue Premium Meat Co. Opens Sioux City, Iowa, Case-Ready Pork Plant
Perdue Premium Meat Co. (PPMC), a division of Perdue Farms, cut the ribbon on its new Sioux City, Iowa, case-ready pork production facility, officially announcing the grand opening of the 225,000-sq.-ft. plant, according to a release.
The Sioux City plant was a renovation project that represents a $60 million investment in the region, the company noted in the release. Gary Malenke, senior vice president of Operations, PPMC, called it a “long-term investment” in the Sioux City region, adding that the facility will create more than 100 new jobs.
The plant will produce products from the Niman Ranch and Coleman All Natural Meats brands, and it will handle the products of multiple private-label customers as well.
Malenke said the facility is equipped to produce four different case-ready packaging formats. It also “can blend trim, debone hams and loins, and will be able to absorb the case-ready production currently taking place at our sister facilities in Iowa,” he said. The facility went through a soft launch starting in April.
