Anheuser-Busch Investing $7.4 Million to Expand Michelob Ultra Production
Anheuser-Busch announced a new, $7.4 million capital project at its Los Angeles, Calif., brewery — the latest in a long line of U.S. capital investments over the past year-plus for the global beverage giant.
According to the release announcing the investment, Anheuser-Busch will upgrade Los Angeles brewing and packaging equipment to provide increased production capacity for Michelob Ultra beer, which recently was announced as the best-selling beer in U.S. retail, according to data from Circana (for the latest 52 weeks ending Sept. 14, 2025) shared by Anheuser-Busch.
Specifically, the brewery will expand production of 25-oz. cans and 15-pack slim cans of Michelob Ultra to meet growing demand across the country — but also in Los Angeles, whose residents purchase more Michelob Ultra than in any other city in the U.S., the announcement noted.
The Los Angeles brewery opened in 1954 and makes 45 different products for the company — and it has received $180 million in capital investment over the last five years, the company said. Almost a year ago, Anheuser-Busch committed $16 million to upgrades to the Los Angeles plant. This new, $7.4 million project is part of the company’s ongoing Brewing Futures initiative, through which Anheuser-Busch is dedicating more than $300 million in U.S. facility investments that create and support U.S. manufacturing jobs.
In fact, Anheuser-Busch has spent nearly $2 billion on its 100 U.S. facilities over the past five years, most recently investing $15 million on supply-chain upgrades in St. Louis, and $9 million in Baldwinsville, N.Y. — among many, many other projects.
