Lassonde Breaks Ground on $200 Million Juice Plant in Southern New Jersey
Canadian beverage company Lassonde Industries Inc. has broken ground on a $200 million juice plant in Upper Deerfield Township of New Jersey, near Seabrook, according to the Jersey Digs website. It will span about 200,000 sq. ft. and eventually replace the existing plant the company operates next door, where they produce juices and cranberry sauce.
“Since entering the U.S. market, we have methodically expanded our footprint, and our initiatives will support further expansion of both our private label and branded beverage activities, while improving our profitability,” said CEO said Vince Timpano.
Existing production activities are expected to be transferred beginning next year with full completion expected in 2027. When originally publicized a year ago, the project was expected to save the 200 jobs at the current facility and to add 65 or more positions.
Lassonde also plans to invest an additional $20 million at their Upper Deerfield Township facility to fortify its role as a strategic production hub. The supplementary investment consists of bringing certain owned production assets in-house that are currently deployed at a co-packer facility, according to Jersey Digs.
Lassonde is a C$2.6 billion processor making both branded and private label beverages. Over the past 10 years it’s bought Apple & Eve, Old Orchard Brands and Summer Garden Foods.
