Jack Stack BBQ Processing Division Permitted to Build New Plant

Harrisonville, Missouri, approves transformation of former Walmart site into $18 million, USDA-certified processing plant for JBQ Meats.

JBQ Meats, the processing company associated with well-known Kansas City barbecue restaurant company Fiorella’s Jack Stack BBQ, has received approval on an $18 million plan to convert a former retail big-box store into a USDA-certified processing plant and warehouse in Harrisonville, Mo., according to local news reports.

The building formerly housed a Walmart and another business named Bizarre Bazaar over the years — as well as storage for the building owner’s property; however, it has been vacant for some time, the reports noted. As many as 70 jobs are expected to be created once the facility is fully operational, and construction should be completed by 2027.

Jack Stack BBQ confirmed to one news outlet that JBQ Meats was looking to expand operations and that plans were still in the early stages. The site is permitted to allow for potential retail development on its north end.
