Gelatys Opens New Plant, Targeting National Expansion of Frozen Novelties
Frozen novelties brand Gelatys has opened a new production facility in Fort Myers, Fla., according to a release from the company.
The new plant solidifies Gelatys’ position as the only manufacturer of frozen gelato novelties in America, offering more than 30,000 sq. ft. of production space and an opportunity for the company to grow into a national CPG brand. The facility is expected to create about 75 jobs for the region, adding to the roughly 50 employees already working for the company’s original Miami, Fla., facility.
Gelatys invested $8 million into the facility, which is built on a 1.5-acre site and features equipment “capable of producing in one hour what previously required an entire day,” the company noted. Gelatys expects the plant to scale its production and support national expansion of its Mini Gems premium, portion-controlled gelato mini pops, as well as the next generation of premium Italian-style frozen novelties.
Gelatys launched in 2016 in Miami as a two-kiosk mall concept — and has skyrocketed to selling in more than 5,000 locations across 26 states today.
