Meatable Brings Global Food Experts to Netherlands to Discuss the Future of Sustainable Meat
Leiden, Netherlands-based cultivated meat company Meatable has shared post-event details from its cross-industry summit held Feb. 13 in Leiden, which brought together a global audience of industry-wide decision-makers and influencers to discuss culitvated meat, sustainable solutions for the meat industry and the food supply chain as a whole.
Food Processing senior editor Andy Hanacek was part of the exclusive group invited to the event (you can watch his reaction and review after being given the very rare opportunity to try the Meatable product himself), which included policymakers, investors and meat industry leaders interested in bolstering the food system.
Hanacek led a panel toward the end of the day that included meat industry veteran Jeff Swain, renowned chef and blending expert Andrew Hunter, and Paradai Adisayathepkul, ventures investment lead for Betagro Ventures — all of whom discussed the challenges and potential solutions facing the U.S. meat industry, specifically.
Other notable speakers including the Rt. Hon. Chris Skidmore, former UK Energy Minister and Chair of the Net Zero Review and Danielle Nierenberg, president of FoodTank. The theme of the day was “Standing on the Shoulders of Giants: Learning from the Great Inventors of Our Time.”
Attendees toured the Meatable lab facilities, engaged with leadership and scientists, and sampled the company’s cultivated meat products, reinforcing the viability of sustainable proteins.
