$2.5 Million of Retail, Bottled Terra Delyssa Olive Oil Stolen From Houston Warehouse
CHO America, makers of Terra Delyssa branded olive oils, reported that more than $2.5 million worth of Terra Delyssa Organic and Extra Virgin olive oil was stolen from a third-party-owned warehouse in Houston, Texas. The company issued a release seeking assistance in locating the stolen product.
According to local reports, 18 truckloads — each containing 290 pallets of 672 bottles — were stolen from the warehouse, whose owner had recently gone out of business and thus did not have operating security cameras. Houston’s police department continues to investigate the crime.
This is the second such theft of its product in the past couple weeks, with a previous theft occurring at the company’s Canadian facility. Another Houston news outlet said, citing CHO, that a truck carrying 12,069 bottles of olive oil was stolen after it left the company’s Montreal warehouse, headed for the U.S., with thieves removing GPS features from the vehicle.
Terra Delyssa olive oil is packaged in a dark glass bottle with yellow label and is considered a premium product that the company noted makes it a particular target for theft. The company has received some leads to recover some of the product, it said, but it asked retail store owners to report suspicious, low-ball offers of the product to the company. The lot numbers affected can be viewed here.
CHO America is the parent company of Terra Delyssa as well as Moresh, Bella Del Sol and Bulk by CHO. Its products are distributed in North America and 42 countries around the world. In March 2024, the prices of Terra Delyssa were raised, with CHO citing extreme weather in Tunisia, which led to poor crop production and lower yields.
