It’s a marketer’s dream: an $8.99 Hershey bar.

The catch is, it’s a Dubai-style chocolate bar, Hershey’s only making 10,000 of them and they’re only being sold on Gopuff (an online shopping and delivery service) and at Hershey’s Chocolate World Times Square beginning (and presumably ending) Dec. 4.

Whether a fad or a new flavor with staying power, Dubai chocolate has become ubiquitous, and $8.99 isn’t a high price for this treat; the bar weighs in at a hefty 3.12 oz. It features a center of pistachio cream and kadayif – shredded phyllo dough that gives it a little crunch – coated in iconic Hershey's Milk Chocolate.

“Once they're gone, they're gone forever,” said Megan Pantalone, senior manager of innovation at Hershey Co. "Not every trend gets the Hershey's treatment. When something takes over social media like this, we knew it deserved a one-of-a-kind release.”

Dubai-style chocolates seemed to burst on the scene at the time of this spring's Sweets & Snacks Expo. They also were prevalent at the Private Label Manufacturers Assn. trade show in suburban Chicago Nov. 16-18. One contract manufacturer said it was a fad that was already burning out – and his company was making the bars. Another manufacturer predicted a long and prosperous run.

Megan, are you sure they’ll be gone forever?
