Kraft Heinz has bought a Brazilian maker of condiments and sauces.
The company announced April 1 that it has acquired a majority stake in Companhia Hemmer Indústria e Comércio (“Hemmer”). The 107-year-old company is based in Blumenau, Santa Catarina.
Kraft Heinz intends to make the Hemmer acquisition part of its “International Taste Elevation platform,” which focuses on condiments and sauces, according to a company statement. Hemmer will benefit from Kraft Heinz’s distribution network in Brazil.
"We are very excited about the completion of the deal, which furthers Kraft Heinz's plan to become one of the largest food players in the country, expanding our selection for our consumers,” Fernando Rosa, managing director of Brazil at Kraft Heinz, said in the statement. “This combination represents a tremendous growth opportunity for both companies, which are both built on the pillars of tradition, innovation, quality, superior ingredients, and flavor.”
