Acquisitions expand New York City and Long Island direct store delivery capabilities.
Utz Brands Inc. continues its shopping spree this week by buying two of its own third-party direct store delivery (DSD) distributors of Utz products: Clem Snacks Inc. and J&D Snacks Inc., both in the New York City area.
Clem is a family-owned and -operated distributor based in Brooklyn, with approximately 100 DSD routes in New York City and Long Island. J&D has been serving the Bronx since 1996 with approximately 25 DSD routes. Utz has been working with the distributors for "twenty-plus years" and credits them with growing sales of Utz’s salty snacks in the New York City region.
Financial terms were not disclosed for either deal. Since being acquired in mid-2020 by Collier Creek Holdings, a company formed by former executives of Blackstone Group just for this transaction, and becoming public, Utz has made a number of acquisitions of regional snack companies.
