E&J Gallo Winery has acquired Bev and its portfolio of premium canned wines and spritzers, according to a company release. The acquisition comes two years after Gallo obtained exclusive U.S. distribution rights for Bev, and about one month since Gallo acquired another female-founded brand, Fishers Island Lemonade.
Bev was founded by Alix Peabody in Venice, Calif., and promotes empowerment and inclusivity in beverage and beyond. At its heart, Bev is about breaking down barriers and building connections that educate and inspire, the news release said.
Bev is the first “zero sugar” canned wine approved by the U.S. Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) on the market, and the Bev portfolio includes Bev Rosé, Bev Blanc, Bev Gris, Bev Noir, Bev Glitz, Bev Glam, Bev Glow, Bev PRIDE and Bev Brite, all sourced from California.
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Peabody will continue her involvement in the vision, expansion and development of the brand, the release added.
