Bimbo Bakeries USA has purchased South St. Paul, Minn.-based National Choice Bakery, according to local reports. Although terms of the overall deal were not disclosed, the report states that the facility/property sold to Bimbo for $5.2 million.
National Choice, a kosher-certified bagel processor, opened in 1990 under the name Twin City Bagel Inc. The company produces fresh, refrigerated, frozen, and thaw-and-sell bagels for national brands, private labels and foodservice accounts. Bagels can be custom-formulated or packed, or are available in sizes ranging from minis to 4 oz., penny pack 5- or 6-count, mini 10- or 12-count packs, to bulk-pack sleeved cases.
Reports show that owners Shimon Harosh and Michel Rouache sold the company on July 10, along with the 66,325-square-foot plant in South St. Paul, which employs 150 workers.
