Chicago-based Ferrara Candy Co. has announced it will acquire Brazilian sweets and snacks manufacturer Dori Alimentos, through CTH, the lead holding company of Ferrara. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Dori was founded in 1967 and is headquartered in Marília, Brazil. It is a family-controlled company backed by an affiliate of ACON Investments, producing such Brazilian brands as Dori, Pettiz, Jubes, Gomets, Deliket, Disqueti, Yogurte 100 and Bolete. Dori exports products to more than 40 countries. According to the release, the company has experienced double-digit revenue growth over the last several years.

Dori’s brands will join Ferrara’s stable of U.S. confectionary brands, including Brach’s, Nerds, SweeTarts and Trolli. Ferrara is owned by Ferrero Group and has been manufacturing candy and sweets for more than 115 years.

The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2023, after which Dori’s more than 3,100 employees will join Ferrara’s team of more than 4,600.
