Sugar Foods Corp. Acquired by Pritzker Private Capital

California-based processor of crunchy toppings, croutons, beverage ingredients and pizza toppings looks to expand operations with the influx of financial resources.

Sugar Foods Corp., a producer of crunchy toppings, croutons, beverage ingredients, pizza toppings and more for foodservice, retail and private label channels, has been acquired by private equity firm Pritzker Private Capital (PPC).

Sugar Foods will gain financial resources and industry expertise in the deal, which it expects to use to accelerate growth and innovation, as well as expand its operations. The company currently operates five processing facilities in the U.S. and Mexico, employing more than 1,400 people. Sugar Foods’ management team will continue to lead the business, a release from PPC stated.

Headquartered in Westlake Village, Calif., Sugar Foods serves more than 3,000 customers, including many of the world’s most well-known grocery retailers, foodservice providers and quick-service and casual-dining restaurants. The company says it has launched more than 200 new products since 2020, and its brands include Fresh Gourmet, Mrs. Cubbison, and N’Joy.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
