Mushroom Processor South Mill Champs Expands Through Acquisition of World Fresh Produce

Acquisition will enhance vertically integrated mushroom company’s position in global produce marketplace.

South Mill Champs, producer of Minute Mushrooms, Saucy Mushrooms and Shrooms Mushroom Coffee as well as a variety of foodservice, co-packed and private-label mushroom products, has acquired World Fresh Produce, a global fresh produce-sourcing organization, according to a release from South Mill Champs.

The acquisition will enhance South Mill Champs’ position in overall produce, incorporating the World Fresh Produce team’s decades of produce industry experience. Additionally, the World Fresh Produce business will benefit from the expanded reach provided by South Mill Champs’ distribution and cold-chain network across North America.

World Fresh Produce was founded in 2018 by Michel Matouk, who will join South Mill Champs as vice president of global produce sourcing moving forward.
