Rise Buys Pies Facilities, Expanding Portfolio of Bakery Products

Rise Baking Co. expands into pie category with purchase of two pie processing facilities in Kent, Wash., and Brampton, Ont., Canada.

Minneapolis, Minn.-based Rise Baking Co. has acquired two pie facilities from Wonder Brand Holdings Inc. and FGF Brands (USA) Inc. (Pies), according to a release from Rise’s parent company Olympus Partners.

Rise provides premium cookies, cakes, brownies, muffins, dessert bars, icings, artisan breads and flatbreads to North American retail bakeries and foodservice providers, and is adding a full-scale pies platform that services the North American retail channel. The two Pies facilities are in Kent, Wash., and Brampton, Ont., Canada, and will become the 17th and 18th facilities in Rise’s operation.

Brian Zellmer, CEO of Rise, explained that the acquisition allows the company to expand into the pie category and provide greater service to its customers. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
