Rind Snacks Acquires Vermont Granola Manufacturer Small Batch Organics
Rind Snacks, a sustainable snacks brand, has acquired Vermont-based granola products manufacturer Small Batch Organics, allowing Rind to evolve into a vertically integrated, healthy snack business, according to a release from the company. Rind will take ownership of manufacturing and fulfillment, it will rebrand Small Batch’s products to the Rind brand over the course of the year and will release several collaborative innovations, the company said.
The first joint product, Rind Cherry Cashew Crunch, features upcycled cherries, spiced cashews and vanilla granola clusters, and is the first rollout in Rind’s new fruit, nut & granola Remix line. It is expected to be available this month in Sam’s Club stores and other outlets nationwide this spring. Small Batch’s product innovation and manufacturing expertise (the acquisition includes a Vermont manufacturing facility) blends well with Rind’s strength in sales, distribution and brand affinity. The combined company is slated to generate more than $25 million in retail sales by year’s end, the release stated.
This acquisition is the first for Rind, which was founded in 2018 and claims to divert more than one million pounds of food waste from landfills annually by using upcycled whole fruit for its snack products. Small Batch’s commitment to sustainability includes the use of 100% solar energy and renewable packaging solutions.
