Iconic Milwaukee sausage company Klement’s Sausage Co. has been acquired by Amylu Foods, a processor of natural, fully cooked chicken products, from Tall Tree Foods and parent company Altamont Capital Partners, according to an announcement shared with Food Processing this week.
Klement’s was founded in 1956 and became a beloved Milwaukee (and Wisconsin) sausage brand — after Altamont acquired it in 2014, it grew into a nationally distributed brand known for its snack sticks, summer sausages and smoked sausage varieties.
The acquisition of Klement’s is expected to boost Amylu Foods’ ability to diversify its own product into new categories, such as snack sticks and summer sausages. It also represents a move to enhance production capacity for the company.
Amylu Foods reported in the announcement that it has already seen 70% year-over-year growth in 2024 thus far, and it expects the deal to support continued growth. Amylu Foods was founded in 1992 and was an early pioneer in the chicken sausage category. Today, it produces nearly 50 varieties of sausages, meatballs and burgers, and considers itself a leader in the natural, better-for-you, fully cooked chicken space.
