Hatfield, Pa.-based pork processor Clemens Food Group has purchased Lancaster, Pa.-based processor Kunzler & Co., according to local news reports. Clemens will keep the Kunzler brand name and its three processing facilities, adding to its production footprint and portfolio of brands.
Kunzler has produced bacon, smoked meats, deli meats and specialty meat products to the mid-Atlantic and parts of the Southeast for more than 120 years, but Chris Kunzler, now-former president of the company, said the time was right to pass the company reins on.
“We found a great steward to carry on the Kunzler family legacy and we look forward, with joy and anticipation, to what they will do to enhance and grow the brand and product offerings,” he added in a statement to the news outlets. Brad Clemens, president of Clemens Food Group, said the company was committed to driving continued success for the Kunzler brand and its employees.
