DayDayCook Acquires Omsom, a Multi-Brand Asian Consumer Foods Company
Omsom, a multi-brand Asian consumer foods company, has been acquired by DDC (DayDayCook) Enterprise Ltd., according to a release from DayDayCook. Omsom promotes its products as a “proud and loud” reclamation of “Asian flavors that have been diluted for far too long” in the U.S. market, through its cooking sauces and Saucy Noodles products.
The acquisition is expected to boost new product innovation for Omsom, shortening R&D time from idea to aisle by half, the release noted. Operational synergies also figure to improve finances and processes. Omsom joins DayDayCook, Nona Lim and Yai’s Thai in DDC’s family of U.S. brands — the two latter brands having been acquired within the past year.
DayDayCook was founded in 2012 by Norma Chu, aimed at sharing the joy of Asian cooking culture with the world. First-generation Vietnamese-American sisters Vanessa and Kim Pham founded Omsom in 2020, originally as a direct-to-consumer business. In 2022, Omsom expanded into the national retail channel, and by the end of Q1 2024, the release noted that grocery channel revenue was up 324% year-over-year.
Omsom’s Cooking Sauces and Saucy Noodles product lines have reached 100,000 customers and more than 2,000 stores nationwide, the release added.
