Private-equity firm Stellex Capital Management has acquired J. Skinner Baking, which produces artisan danishes, muffins, cinnamon rolls, brownies and bars. In addition, Doug Davidson, a bakery operator with multiple decades of experience, has been named president and COO for the company.
Skinner is based in Omaha, Neb., and was founded in 1983. It provides its ready-to-eat baked goods for in-store bakeries, foodservice operations and co-packing partners — with its products sold in more than 30,000 retail locations in all 50 states.
With Stellex’s investment into the company, it is expected to expand production capacity, increase automation and develop more new products.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
