Emmi Group Completes Mademoiselle Acquisition to Create ‘Desserts Powerhouse’
Switzerland-based global dairy company Emmi Group announced it has completed the acquisition of France’s Mademoiselle Desserts Group — a transaction announced July 5, 2024, and one that Emmi Group says will help it create a “desserts powerhouse” in the growing premium desserts category globally.
Additionally, the deal is expected to double Emmi’s sales share in the premium desserts niche and give it a leading global role in that category, the release noted. According to a news report published at the time of the initial announcement, Emmi Group’s dessert business sales would grow from 9% of its total sales to 17% after the transaction. Mademoiselle’s innovative premium patisserie products would complement Emmi’s current dessert portfolio and add French-inspired desserts to the stable of offerings.
Final terms of the transaction were not disclosed in the announcement, but the initial release in July noted that the deal was valued around $973 million U.S. (or 900 million Euro). According to that release, Mademoiselle generated approximately 420 million Euro in annual sales in 2023, producing products in 12 facilities in France, the UK, the Netherlands and Belgium, with about 2,000 employees. Emmi Group sells its products in around 60 countries, producing them at 57 of production facilities in 11 countries.
