Hormel Health Labs Business Sold to Lyons Magnus

Lyons Magnus will combine acquired operations and assets with its own and form a new Lyons Health Labs division.

Hormel Foods has dealt its Hormel Health Labs business to Lyons Magnus LLC, a co-manufacturer and supplier of a wide variety of products to the foodservice and food ingredient industries, which will combine the acquired assets and operations with its current nutrition and health business to establish a new “Lyons Health Labs” banner.

Lyons Magnus — which is a portfolio company of Paine Schwartz Partners — produces all sorts of food and beverage products for foodservice, from juices and craft beverages to beverage bases and syrups, toppings and dessert sauces to fillings and preserves, among many other food and beverage items. It also co-manufactures many of those same products. The Lyons Health Labs business will offer products specifically designed to help consumers overcome the nutritional and health challenges posed by such ailments as dysphagia, unintended weight loss, digestive health and hydration, among other health needs.

Included in the sale are all of Hormel Health Labs’ brands, including ReadyCare, Thick & Easy, Vital Cuisine, Med Pass 2.0, MightyShakes and Magic Cup. Lyons Health Labs will be headquartered in Fresno, Calif., with the rest of the Lyons Magnus team.
