Schuman Cheese Acquires Old Croc Cheddar Cheese Parent, Trugman-Nash

Oct. 31, 2024
Australian cheddar cheese brand adds significant range of high-quality cheddar products to Schuman Cheese’s portfolio.

Cheese processor Schuman Cheese has acquired Trugman-Nash LLC from Allied Dairy Inc., bringing a range of cheddar offerings to its portfolio. The acquisition includes both Old Croc — reportedly the U.S. market leader for Australian cheddar — and exclusive U.S. distribution rights for renowned Organic Herd British cheddar brands produced by the Organic Milk Suppliers Co-operative.

Ian Schuman, Import Business manager for Schuman Cheese, said the deal “strengthens our position in the specialty cheese market by adding to our best-in-class portfolio of imported cheeses from exceptional partners all over the world.”

Old Croc offers an extensive line of cheddar products in chunks, bites, slices and spreads, all crafted from milk sourced from grass-fed cows. The acquisition allows Schuman Cheese to retain Trugman-Nash’s established retail presence, the release noted, so the transition for customers and buyers should be seamless.

Meanwhile, the distribution partnership of Organic Herd aligns with Schuman Cheese’s focus on meeting growing consumer demand, the company said.

Schuman Cheese is a fourth-generation, family-owned processor that was founded in 1945 in New York. Today, its cheesemakers craft the company’s products in Wisconsin.
