Day-Lee Foods (NH Foods) Acquires U.S. Poultry Processor LJD Holdings Group

Dec. 19, 2024
Manufacturer of Crazy Cuizine and Day-Lee Pride products adds manufacturing capacity through acquisition of poultry processing business partner.

NH Foods Ltd. (NHF) U.S. subsidiary Day-Lee Foods has agreed to acquire poultry processor LJD Holdings Group, which includes LJD Holdings Inc., Mountain View Packaging LLC and Tamarack Foods LLC.

Day-Lee Foods manufactures premium quality Asian inspired entrées, single serve, and appetizer products, including two national retail brands — Crazy Cuizine and Day-Lee Pride — out of its processing plant in Southern California.

A release on the agreement distributed by NHF said that the company was making the acquisition to push the company to a new stage in its “Vision 2030” management plan, by which NHF is “positioning itself to evolve into a value-creating company by advancing structural reforms, growth strategies and cultural reform” over the next three years.

NHF’s medium-term management plan has targeted expansion of its global business, focused on the processed foods business in North America and ASEAN, and bringing processing technologies cultivated in Japan to international markets. It noted that, as part of this strategy, it is “also considering the expansion of manufacturing facilities to build a production system that supports an increase in volume.”

At the least, this acquisition offers NHF new manufacturing bases and increased production capacity in the east and west parts of the U.S. — adding to Day-Lee Foods’ current facilities — to meet the rising demand for frozen foods here. LJD Holdings Group, which has operations in Boise, Idaho, and Americus, Ga., has an established, favorable business partnership with Day-Lee Foods already.

Day-Lee Foods will acquire all equity interests of LJD Holdings Group. Terms of the transaction, which is expected to be completed and effective March 31, 2025, were not disclosed.
