Breakfast Foods Processor MBC Acquires Nardone Brothers Frozen Pizza Company
MBC Companies (MBC), a diversified frozen breakfast company, has acquired frozen pizza manufacturer Nardone Brothers Baking Co., according to a release from MBC. Nardone makes pizzas for the K-12, private-label retail and broader foodservice channels.
The acquisition broadens MBC’s reach beyond breakfast, where it meets consumer demand for French toast sticks, waffles, pancakes, breakfast sandwiches and other baked goods. It also adds production capacity, opportunities for product innovation and sharing of best practices across another business group.
MBC, which is headquartered in McDonald, Tenn., was formed in 2022 via the merger of Murry’s and Bake Crafters, and it operates two processing plants in Lebanon, Pa. In July 2023, MBC was acquired by Chicago-based private equity firm, Entrepreneurial Equity Partners (e2p).
Nardone was founded in 1942 and is based in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., where it has a 152,000-sq.-ft. processing plant that will increase MBC’s manufacturing footprint to three plants. The third-generation pizza company employs more than 400 people, producing multi-serve round pizzas, stuffed crust, self-rising crust, French bread pizzas, breakfast pizzas and more, the release noted.
