Power Crunch markets a number of bars, whey protein powders and high-protein crisps.

Europe’s family-held Ferrero Group last week signed an agreement to acquire the Power Crunch product line of high-protein bars and crisps from Bio-Nutritional Research Group. Price was not disclosed.

Founded in 1996, Power Crunch has seen strong growth recently, the acquirer said. It offers a number of bars, some of them with wafers, whey protein powders and, in 2024, it launched high-protein crisps, Pringles-like snacks in flavors such as cheddar, salt & vinegar and BBQ.

As part of the transaction, Ferrero will take over an office in Irvine Calif., with approximately 50 employees joining the Ferrero Group in North America.

Ferrero entered the North American market in 1969 and has grown to more than 5,400 employees in 15 plants and warehouses, and eight offices in North America. Particularly acquisitive in the past 10 years, Ferrero has bought Ferrara Candy Co., Fannie May, Nestle’s North American chocolate portfolio, several former Keebler cookie brands from Kellogg and ice cream maker Wells Enterprises.
