Freshway Foods Acquired by Investment Firm from US Foods

Sidney, Ohio-based company processes fresh salad kits, grab-and-go salads and fresh-cut ingredients for retail, and provides foodservice products, transportation and logistics services.

Fresh-cut processor Freshway Foods has been acquired by investment firm Red Arts Capital, according to a release shared by the firm.

Freshway processes fresh deli salad kits, grab-and-go salads and fresh-cut ingredients to retail as well as foodservice customers, and also offers repacking, transportation and logistics services in the eastern U.S. The company dates back to 1895, when it began as a fruit business founded by Matthew Gilardi and his half-brother August Palmisano in Sidney, Ohio.

Red Arts will provide strategic, financial and organizational support to Freshway, aiming to enhance its ability to serve customers. Devon Beer, president of Freshway, will continue to lead the company, and he has been with the company since 2000. Freshway was acquired by Red Arts from food supplier and distributor US Foods.
