Constellation Brands to Divest Half-a-Dozen ‘Mainstream’ Wine Brands and Related Facilities
Alcohol beverage company Constellation Brands Inc. will divest several of its “mainstream” wine brands and related vineyards, inventory and facilities to The Wine Group, subject to regulatory approval and closing conditions.
Brands included in the deal are Woodbridge, Meiomi, Robert Mondavi Private Selection, Cook’s, Simi and J. Rogét sparkling wine, the release said. Bill Newlands, president and CEO of Constellation Brands, said the divestiture fits the company’s multi-year business reconfiguration strategy that is expected to lead to a portfolio of higher-end wine and craft spirits brands.
“Concentrating our wine and spirits portfolio in higher-growth segments remains an important element of our overall business strategy and complements our higher-end beer portfolio, aiming to ensure we continue to participate in more consumer occasions across beer, wine, and spirits,” he said. Constellation will retain numerous wine brands following the close of the transaction — wines that the company calls “highly regarded” and “predominantly priced $15 and above.”
A sampling of the brands staying with Constellation are Robert Mondavi Winery, Schrader, Double Diamond, The Prisoner Wine Co., Kim Crawford from New Zealand, Sea Smoke, Lingua Franca and many others.
The deal is expected to close following the end of Constellation’s fiscal 2026 first quarter.
