Sartori Cheese Acquires Rumiano Cheese

June 3, 2025
Maker of organic cheese and butter will join the Plymouth, Wis.-based cheesemaker, though Rumiano’s converting facilities in Willows, Calif., were sold separately.

Sartori Cheese has acquired Rumiano Cheese, a company that specializes in organic cheese and butter. Adding Rumiano enhances Sartori’s product offerings and expands its market reach, according to a release detailing the acquisition.

Bert Sartori, CEO of Sartori Cheese, said the deal aligns with the company’s mission to make the best cheese in the world, and that Sartori would continue to build upon Rumiano’s commitment to its Redwood Coast family farm partners. Plymouth, Wis.-based Sartori has been producing cheese since 1939 and is a fourth-generation family-owned company. Rumiano was established in 1919 and has produced premium, pasture-raised organic cheese and butter since then.

The deal brings together two family-owned, heritage cheese companies. Sartori said Rumiano’s cheesemaking division in Crescent City, Calif., will be included in the acquisition, but its converting facilities in Willows, Calif., were purchased separately by Masters Gallery Foods, a national supplier of cheese for private label retail, foodservice and industrial use.
