Wayne-Sanderson Farms has acquired Bethlehem, Ga.-based chicken processor Harrison Poultry, effective immediately, according to a release from Wayne-Sanderson. The purchase includes live production, hatchery, feed mill, manufacturing, production and transportation facilities and equipment associated with Harrison’s Bethlehem and Crawfordville area operations.
Integrated operations will begin immediately, the release noted, with minimal changes and impact to day-to-day operations expected. Wayne-Sanderson leadership noted it had begun exploring acquisition of Harrison earlier this year based on the companies’ complementary offerings and Wayne-Sanderson’s strategic growth initiative.
Harrison Poultry is known best for its a “Golden Goodness” range of traditional, international, and halal poultry products. It was founded in 1958 by R. Harold Harrison and has been in continuous operation since, with his family continuing to grow the company in the years since he passed away. The company employs more than 1,000 employees and produces nearly 400 million pounds of poultry products annually under the Golden Goodness, Pollo Eldorado and Al Marwah labels.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
