Plant-Based: Australia’s V2food Acquired Daring Foods; Ajinomoto Involved
V2food, an Australian plant-based meat analogue company and certified B Corp, has acquired Daring Foods, a maker of unbreaded plant chicken analogues in the U.S. Ajinomoto Co. apparently helped.
V2food announced both deals on its LinkedIn page last week. “This powerful collaboration unites our proprietary technology with Daring’s strong U.S. market presence and Ajinomoto Co.’s century-long expertise in AminoScience,” the post said.
The relationship with Ajinomoto was not explained, but a European medium said it would “accelerate the development of next-generation plant-based products, including a new range of frozen meals with a focus on clean labels and natural ingredients.”
“Daring has built an incredible, consumer-loved brand with strong reach across the U.S., and combining that with our food technology creates immediate opportunities to accelerate our mission to be one of the global leaders in plant-based protein,” said V2food CEO Tim York.
