Fresh deli prepared foods processor Mama’s Creations Inc., has acquired Crown I Enterprises Inc., a full-service manufacturer of value-added proteins and ready-to-eat meals, according to an announcement shared by Mama’s Creations. All assets of Crown I Enterprises are included in the acquisition, for which Mama’s will pay $17.5 million in cash, subject to customary adjustments.
The deal brings approximately $56 million in profitable annual revenue to Mama’s Creations from Sysco Corp., which wholly owned Crown as a subsidiary. Crown’s addition will increase its sales base by nearly 40% and broaden its customer reach into new accounts — “‘hard to break into’, premium retail partners who are not current Mama’s customers,” the company noted.
Further, it includes a recently upgraded and expanded, 42,000-sq.-ft. USDA-certified production facility in Bay Shore, N.Y., that features significant capacity on equipment Mama already operates. The Bay Shore plant is about 10 miles away from Mama’s current Farmingdale facility, which will help with production and warehousing efficiency. About 200 Crown employees are expected to transition with the business.
The acquisition, finally, accelerates Mama’s closer to its goal of reaching $1 billion in annual revenue by 2030.
