B&G Sells Canadian Green Giant, Le Sieur Businesses to Nortera Foods
Company continuing to explore the divestiture of the Green Giant U.S. frozen business after selling off the various other parts of the business over the last two years.
B&G Foods Inc. has agreed to sell its Green Giant and Le Sieur frozen and shelf-stable vegetable brands in Canada to Nortera Foods, which is the long-time, primary co-manufacturer for the brand in that country, according to a release from the company.
It’s the latest vegetables-related divestiture over the last two years by the company, which said it continues to evaluate and pursue the possible divestiture of the Green Giant U.S. frozen vegetable product line as well.
Most recently, McCall Farms Inc. purchased B&G’s Le Sueur brand of sweet peas, green beans and carrots, which happened in August 2025. That deal did not include the La Sieur brand that Nortera Foods is acquiring in this transaction. In November 2023, B&G sold the Green Giant canned vegetables line (excluding the Canada business) to Seneca Foods. In addition, B&G sold its Don Pepino and Sclafani sauces and tomato products to Violet Foods LLC in May 2025.
B&G Foods purchased the Green Giant and Le Sueur businesses from General Mills for $765 million in 2015. Terms of the current deal were not disclosed, and it is expected to close during the fourth quarter of 2025 or the first quarter of 2026, the company said.
