Fortune International Acquires N.C. Seafood Processor Simply Fresh
Fortune International LLC has acquired Durham, N.C.-based Simply Fresh, a processor of fresh fish and seafood, according to a release shared by Fortune. Terms of the deal were not shared in the release.
Simply Fresh, which was founded in 2006, will add to Fortune’s capabilities in the mid-Atlantic and southeastern U.S., serving growing demand for premium seafood in North Carolina and surrounding markets, the company noted. Fortune processes and distributes seafood, meats and specialty items to restaurants, hotels and retailers nationwide.
Simply Fresh was founded in 2006 by Trey Bohn, who unexpectedly passed away in 2024, after having built what was a small operation serving local establishments into a regional supplier of high-quality, sustainably sourced seafood. After Bohn’s passing, Jim Vassallo stepped in to lead the business, and he and the rest of the Simply Fresh team will join Fortune Fish & Gourmet, with Vassallo gaining the title of director of Seafood in North Carolina.
