March 2, 2026

Beverage company Blue Monkey Beverage has acquired the Local Weather brand of sports drinks, according to a release from the company. Local Weather is a coconut water-based sports drink formulated with electrolytes, adaptogens and nootropics, the release noted.

The acquisition fits with Blue Monkey’s efforts to become a stronger player in the better-for-you beverage category, the company said. Local Weather boosts Blue Monkey’s hydration portfolio, and the Local Weather product gives the company oversight of the first sports drink packaged in a resealable, infinitely recyclable aluminum bottle, the company noted.

Local Weather will continue to operate as a distinct brand. Blue Monkey Beverage is backed by private-equity firms Boyne Capital and Fifth Ocean Capital, focused on accelerating its growth, driving innovation and building a differentiated, clean-label beverage portfolio.
