Revolution Foods Acquires Ardella’s, Both School Suppliers

Ardella’s pizzas and burritos will broaden Revolution’s menu and reach.

Two California school meal suppliers are combining. Revolution Foods, which claims to be California’s largest K-12 school meal provider, on Aug. 21 announced the acquisition of Ardella’s, a family-owned food manufacturer that provides pizzas and burritos to schools. Price was not disclosed.

Founded in 1975 as a chain of Southern California pizzerias, Ardella’s began supplying schools with pizzas and related items. Since 2005, Ardella’s has operated a production facility in Carson, Calif., with individually quick-frozen (IQF) capabilities, which Revolution will continue to operate.

Revolution Foods was founded by two moms in 2006. It’s a Certified B Corporation serving more than 35 million meals annually, recently expanding into providing meals to seniors and other foodservice avenues.
