Nestle is laying off 216 workers at its three-building Solon, Ohio, location, not long after an earlier round of layoffs idled 77.
The layoffs were because of changes Nestle was making to optimize its business, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Most of the workers’ last days would be in May. The factory currently employs 780.
Nestle also cut 77 people in November after the company reorganized its corporate teams that also work in Solon.
Some of production at the Solon factory is shifting to other sites within the U.S., the Plain Dealer quoted Nestle. The Solon factory will still run lines dedicated to Nestle’s out-of-home business, which includes products for restaurants, hospitals, vending machines and schools.
