Flowers Foods has filed notice to close manufacturing operations at a bun bakery in Baton Rouge, La.

The huge baking company filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) with the state of Louisiana that the bakery will begin closing Sept. 15. 51-100 employees will be affected.

Plant Manager Darin Allen wrote to the state that the closure was part of “efforts to optimize capacity” throughout the supply chain network of Flowers bakeries and the “ability of other Flowers bakeries to assume the current Baton Rouge production” – that according to WAFB Channel 9.

The TV station also said Flowers will continue to use the site for shipping throughout Louisiana.
