Unilever Officially Opens Hoboken, N.J., U.S. Headquarters

June 6, 2025
The multinational spent the past year moving down the Hudson River from longtime home Englewood Cliffs, N.J.

Unilever on June 5 officially opened its new U.S. headquarters at the Waterfront Corporate Center at 111 River St. in Hoboken, N.J., “marking a major milestone in its strategic transformation and continued commitment to modern, flexible work environments.”

The new office spans 111,000 sq. ft. across three newly designed floors and welcomes 1,100+ employees from key business units and corporate functions. The move comes as part of Unilever’s broader effort to enhance collaboration, support hybrid work models and foster an environment where innovation thrives.

Designed in partnership with global architecture firm Perkins & Will, the space emphasizes sustainability, efficiency and employee experience. Features include:

  • A professional kitchen for Unilever Food Solutions, where chefs craft recipes using iconic brands such as Knorr and Hellmann’s.
  • A full-service salon for brands including Dove, TRESemmé and Nexxus.
  • Design elements that create a “supportive, inspiring and welcoming working environment,” including biophilic design to maximize access to daylight, wellness spaces and mothers’ rooms.
  • A town hall and multipurpose event space on the penthouse level.
  • Collaboration zones, cutting-edge meeting technology and immersive innovation hubs for live collaboration and demonstrations, supporting the way people work today.

As well as sweeping views of Manhattan as a daily backdrop from all three floors.

Designed with sustainability in mind, the space also features LED lighting, energy efficient HVAC systems and low-flow water fixtures to reduce energy and water consumption. Additionally, during construction, the use of low-emitting and recycled materials was prioritized.

It was a relatively short move, just 10 or so miles down the Hudson River from longtime former home Englewood Cliffs, N.J. One neighbor is Hain Celestial, which moved from Lake Success, N.Y., to 221 River Street in the same development.

In addition to the new headquarters in Hoboken, Unilever has Research & Development facilities in Englewood Cliffs and Trumbull, Conn., plus 10 factories manufacturing its products.
