Post Laying off 71 Employees in Battle Creek, Michigan
Post Consumer Brands last week began laying off 71 employees at its Battle Creek, Mich., plant as it ends production there of Honeycomb cereal, some granola and peanut butter products.
The layoffs should be complete this week, according to the company’s Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed with the state of Michigan. Some of the workers are represented by the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union – UFCW, Local 374.
Post has been reducing its production of cereal over the past year and a half. Last year the company ended cereal production at plants in Cobourg, Ontario, and Sparks, Nev.
