Pearson’s Salted Nut Roll St. Paul Factory Set to Close
Pearson’s Candy Co. will close down the St. Paul, Minn., factory that made Salted Nut Rolls at the end of September, idling 80 employees.
In a Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice filed with the state, the company said the facility is no longer financially sustainable. The parent firm is Promise Confections of Pittsburgh.
A story in MPR News said successive private equity owners failed to make the investments the aging factory needed. Promise Confections told the public radio station the semi-iconic treat may live on if they can find a “strategic partner.”
