Agropur announced October 4 it was investing $168 million to expand its facility in Little Chute, Wisc. According to the dairy supplier, this is Agropur’s second largest investment in the United States, with the expansion of the Lake Norden, South Dakota facility in 2018 being the largest investment at $250 million.
As part of its expansion, Agropur, which is a subsidiary of the Canada-based Agropur Cooperative, is building a new 210,000 square feet state-of-the-art facility to meet increased cheese and dairy ingredient production. The new plant will include a wastewater treatment facility that will generate energy, contributing to the co-op's sustainability efforts.
The new facility will be built north of Agropur's current plant in Little Chute and will double the volume of milk production. The new plant should be fully operational by 2023 and anticipates creating up to 54 new jobs for local residents.
Agropur Cooperative, a North American dairy industry cooperative, is ranked No. 26 in Food Processing's 2021 Top 100 List of Food & Beverage Processors.
