Rich Products Plans $116.5 Million Expansion in Brownsville, Texas

Feb. 17, 2023

Rich Products Corp. plans to invest $116.5 million to expand its manufacturing and warehouse capacity in Brownsville, Texas, according to local news reports.

The 120,000-square-foot Rich Products Brownsville facility opened 30 years ago and produces Farm Ranch Appetizers, Frozen Seafood Products and SeaPak Frozen Seafood Products. The proposed expansion would more than double its size, adding 159,000 square feet of production, freezer, dry storage, office and ancillary space.

In late March or early April, the project is expected to begin with construction of a new freezer storage unit, and all phases are expected to be complete by March 2025. Rich Products anticipates the expansion will add 58 jobs at the plant, which currently employs 435 people.

In addition, the Brownsville City Commission approved the company’s nomination for Enterprise Zone Project (EZP) designation under the Texas Enterprise Zone Act, a state sales-tax and use-tax refund program that should defray some of the upfront costs of the expansion with the hope of creating more jobs in the region.
