MDS Foods Plans Expansion of Tennessee Cheese Plant

Processor will spend nearly $9 million on addition that will add 75 jobs in central Tennessee.

Cheese processor MDS Foods Inc. announced its plan to spend $8.9 million to expand operations at its Tullahoma, Tenn., facility, creating 75 new jobs in Coffee County, according to a release from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development.

The addition includes approximately 48,000 square feet of cooler space and about 10,000 square feet of production space to add new cheese processing lines.

Founded and headquartered in Navarre, Ohio, MDS Foods Inc. has served supermarket delis and restaurants across the U.S. as a manufacturer and supplier of premium cheese slices, shreds, chunks, cubes and loaves for nearly 20 years.

The company opened the Tullahoma facility in 2008 and renovated it into a state-of-the-art facility in 2014, according to the company’s Web site.
